Autumn Serenade

It’s not the end of warm weather; it’s the beginning of fireside snuggling.

Pink Grootendorst, Hybrid Rugosa, F.J. Grootendorst, Netherlands, 1923

My King always picked this for me whenever we stopped at
a little park on the Peconic Bay when we lived on Long Island.

Seed pods often are as pretty as the flowers that preceded them.

Antique Apples: Calville Blanc, grown in Louis XIII’s garden, this French
dessert apple should be eaten in the company of an aged Cheddar or robust Stilton.

Pedigreed Pommes: Twenty years after
wishing I had every apple in this article I planted a Mutsu in my orchard.

Autumn is ripe fulfillment, pregnant with seeds.    Reap the harvest.

Until next time, stay snuggly!

Your little dog standing on top of the huge pumpkin is ....darling! Your dogs don't look real. They are way too cute. I love your little cottage. I first saw your blog last year at Christmas and it was so beautiful. It's just a magical place.

Dearest Sandy,

Loved seeing also the publication in Casa Romantica! Quite an Italian compliment!
Your Zuzu is a Queeny, look at her with such a cute expression. Guess she's also able to read all your publications.
Oh, about the old fashioned apples, that is a dream but hardly feasible. BUT if it was not for dreams, we all would not be reading this blog...

Stay cozy and love that little queeny Suzu; she's so precious!

Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Hi Sandy, the cottage looks beautiful amidst the turning leaves. The antique apples are amazing! I think the perfect compliment to that cheese, I would serve a bit of champagne too, or more than a bit ;)tami

Beautiful photos of the cottage in the Fall, Sandy. And I love little ZuZu on the pumpkin with her matching bow! I also clicked on your link in your right-hand side bar and checked out your videos on You Tube. What a great husband you have -- using such an ingenius idea to get your mantle across the stream! And little ZuZu at 12 weeks was adorable enough to eat up! I think you would like my house too. If you get a chance, check out this post where my son took a picture of the front so I could upload it. Here it is: http://thelittleredhousewiththewhiteporch.blogspot.com/2010_10_17_archive.html
Take care,
