Gifts from Roberta Comeau: Whispers From The Past

Roberta Comeau, an artist residing in the Catskills of New York, has gifted me with a bouquet of fabric roses she created.  You may remember the sachet I bought from her here.

And then there's the Gianna Rose Maltese gift soap shaped like a Maltese show dog...now that's CUTE!  I love pink and cocoa...great fall colors on my daughter Zuzu.

It was great hearing from you Roberta, and I hope to get together with you Upstate in the new year after my schedule lets up!

Belle
1999 - 2011

I'm saddened to inform you I had to put my adopted daughter Belle down.
Her joints had degenerated to the point where she could barely walk,
glaucoma was setting in...but she's at the Rainbow Bridge now
and everything's OK.   Except I miss her.

Until next time, stay shabby!

Sandy, I'm so sorry to hear about Belle. I know how much she meant to you. I think that's the only bad thing about having any pet at all, is that they're only here for a short while. However the memories and love they bring in that short time enriches our lives. Hugs tami

Dearest Sandy,

First off, so sorry that you lost your sweet 'daughter' Belle. But she did live a long and happy life; that's a fact!
Love those fabric roses, like the silk rose on the pink sachet in your previous post from June 24, 2010.
Those soaps in animal or flower form are a great gift idea as well.
Thanks for sharing all this and have a great week ahead.
Love to you,

Mariette

Sandy,

I know the deep sadness that comes with losing a fur child. I am so very sorry for your recent loss. My prayer is that God soon brings a rainbow to hang over your heart and the tears you have shed, to remind you of better days ahead.
She is now with so many of my own children who always dressed in fur. Your heart is surrounded by my prayers at this time.

Hello Sandy,

Tears fell from my eyes when I read about your Beautiful Belle. She was like your shadow, I'm guessing, and I can sense your loss. I've had pets my entire life and cherish all the happy moments they've brought me. It is so hard when we have to say good-bye, isn't it? Thanks for sharing all the wonderful photos of her through your gorgeous blog pages. I hope that your sadness will diminish as time goes by and that whenever you think of Belle, your loving memories of her will bring only a wide smile to your face.

Hugs,

Oh- I am so sorry to hear about Belle. I lost my little Misty just this time of year. I think the worst part is that because soon you will be inside more-it is like they are even more missed...you get so used to have them snuggle you up in the colder months. My heart aches for you...and I know how much you miss her. At least you know she is pain free now.

Your fabric flowers are absolutely beautiful. What a special friend to send those to you! God bless- xo Diana

I am so sorry Sandy for the passing of sweet Belle. We just added two sisters (Shih tzu's) to our home a few months ago & was told that one of them may have luxating patella in one of her hind legs - we are hoping she grows out of it, but i hear it's common in small dogs...? is that what Belle was dealing with? Just want to say i admire you for being so very strong and doing the right thing for her! Still is so very sad! love to you! tracie

That is so sad Sandy. I remember having to put my Fifi down It was the most horrible day. I vowed never to get another. That lasted 2 months. Then I found my baby Lizzie. These little cuties bring so much joy and we just can't live without them. I'm sure Belle is running around and joyful in doggy heaven.
Thanks for coming by. Your studio is so popular! I finish one and I get an order for another. You're such a genius and everybody wants your studio. The dollhouse is close enough for some! Can't wait to see your Christmas decorations!
love ya,
Caroline

Deepest sympathy on the loss of your sweet little girl. Even my veterinarian says she has difficulty growing them past the age of 12. Glaucoma is a tough go. Going into it many years ago with our cocker spaniel, her doctor advised she could do well with just one eye (this, after we did everything possible to get the pressure "regulated" in the eye). This was true. She adapted well. When the other eye failed, the doctor said she'd do fine if we just didn't move the furniture. Well, she didn't do fine and seemed to be in a constant state of nervousness (wouldn't You be?). Also, with several dogs in the house, she also became vulnerable when other dog "leaders" want to cull the pack of the weakest. Martha Stewart talked about this once on her blog; I can't recall if it was her beloved chow or another breed. So, bottom line, and you don't need me to tell you this, you did the kindly, loving thing for someone you love and for whom suffering is not acceptable. And we go through these things, vowing to never own another dog again because it's too hard, yet new ones charm their way into our lives...those of us who can't live without their loyal and adorable canine companionship. For me, a world without pets is just too gray. I read once that for some of us childless people, pets are emotional replacements for human children. But I don't subscribe to that anymore, because whether or not one has kids, our pets enrich our lives just for who THEY are, with their own unique characteristics and personalities. If I'd had four kids, I'm sure I would have also had four dogs. Not supposed to compare the two, but there's a beautiful relationship all the way around. At this time in my life, dogs are as important as any human person in it, and I make no explanation, excuse or apology for it.

Wishing you sunnier skies as you continue to reconcile her passing, knowing that she lived out her natural, well-rounded life, with love and care, space and comfort, attention and even other doggie friends. A dog's life. A dog's good life. As it should be.
