Dame's Rocket 'runway strut'.
Scored an industrial stool ($25), and $5 for these daybed ‘ends’ with killer
patina at the Memorial Day yard sale at Maple Shade Farm in Delhi
So what if I have to build the rest of it?
I see white linen and nailheads in my future.
How was my spring workcation? Too short, of course! The garden shed My King and I intended to build was all finished on Wednesday. We guiltlessly relaxed with fun time and a date at our favorite haunt The Crossroads Café on Friday night when they have live acoustic music. We felled logs enough for next winter. We’ll split and stack them between vegetable garden chores all summer long.
After nearly a week at home, I entered that sweet state of grace -- suspended from ties to the real world and responsibilities for so long you begin to believe it. I shopped, money seeming coming from a magic plastic card for I could remember no job; I enjoyed movies with My King and we went to bed late and slept in without consequence; I played with my dogs instead of weedwhacking; I shook myself ‘back’ after minutes in the bewitching spell of my half-wild garden and it didn’t matter. Heaven.
As adults, we long for the unfettered feeling of summer so much we sometimes go to great lengths to feel like a kid again. I built my streamside studio to recapture this! Whether you vicariously relive your childhood by giving your children a fun summer every day, or if you’re at work or school for so many hours summer comes and goes without you noticing, I hope you have at least one magic summer moment this year.

I think that working out in the fresh air, surround by the scents of nature returns us, eventually, to a state of equilibrium. So, I'm not surprised that you had that feeling of well-being. I'm sure that looking at all that wood for next winter also helped.

Freezing here in the grip of wind blowing over snowy hills and living springtime vicariously thru this lovely post (yes it really does get freezing cold here in Sydney but not usually THIS early in the winter). Your place looks wonderful at this time of year and your long lie-in mornings, movies and coffee dates with your man sound like heaven. You surely do deserve it :)
It is so true as an adult that I still long for that bit of carefree summer time! Your Staycation sounded perfect! I'm hoping at least a long weekend comes my way in July.

I am always enchanted coming here. It reminds me so much of the mountains in PA where I grew up. I spent most of my times in the woods when I was old enough to go on my own...and there were hidden springs here and there. It was a magical, wild world to escape to and I loved it.
When I visit you I sense that same awe and wonder that I felt as a kid...and would love to create again. Sometimes I dream of going home to the mountains and wish I could. Instead, I enjoy your dream and make part of it my own. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with all of us- xo Diana

What a beautiful post. I just returned from spending 2 weeks at my cottage and they were glorious. I didn't want to come back to reality. We moved to the city 5 years ago for my husbands job, but I long, long, long for the countryside! What a blessing you have in your little hideaway.

It is so nice to see you post again. It's good you realize you live in such a beautiful place; it's pristine...I just have never seen anything like it, truly. No wonder you yearn for it when you are away. The photos are amazing. Something really touched me with this particular post; tears sprung to my eyes.
